Bohnafide horror game picks for Halloween 2022

The only games I placed in this list were easily obtainable and there should not be any in this list that you have to spend excessive amounts of money to play.  That said, there is the fact that most of these were played by me on a console, so no Steam games.  That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a Steam variant of some of these games in my list.

In no order, here are our picks (Game Title- Console played on- Price of Game)

Silent Hill 4: The Room- Xbox- $35

This classic horror game is a great pick for jumping straight into the scares.  No need for a long back story on this one.  You get the feeling of claustrophobia and unease of someone watching you immediately.  The graphics may be dated, but there are still some great scares in this game.

Resident Evil Village- PS5- $15

What amazing graphics that truly make this game spectacular.  My favorite part was wondering around the abandoned farmhouse in the freezing cold, going into the basement and not wanting to leave it in fear of what I would encounter.  Great game to play with friends, passing the remote when one chickens out or upon death.

Silent Hill 3- Silent Hill HD Collection- PS3- $19

I am very happy that they released the HD collection for the PS3.  Without this collection I would have never been able to play either of these titles with the current prices for the originals.  Great game based on “The Mist” by Stephen King with unnerving creatures.  Throughout the game I felt like I could not trust my own character’s view on what was happening.

Until Dawn- PS4- $7

My favorite Dark Anthology game to date, this game was great playing with friends, although the long run time of 10 hours makes you either go multiple nights or one long run.  The atmosphere in the tunnels was top notch along with the quick time events throughout the game.  This is the one dark anthology game I would suggest to gamers.

Little Nightmares 1&2- Switch- $20

I placed both games on this list since I played the second game prior to the first.  These games are great to jump into with its amazing atmosphere and sense of dread with every door swing.  I enjoyed playing these in a group to pass the remote whenever there was a death, because we died a lot in these.  The one thing I did not like, was playing it on the switch.  I hate the controllers and the use of the switch controllers in pretty much any game I have played on the system.  So if you can, pick these up on the Xbox or PlayStation instead.

Alien: Isolation- Xbox One- $8

Being a fan of the Alien franchise, I was happy to get my hands on this game.  I enjoyed every heart pacing moment of being hunted in this game.  Great graphics and scares throughout.

The Last of us- PS3- $8

I don’t know if there is anything I can say about this game that has not already be said.  Great game to watch someone else play and play alike.  Best scares- those clickers.

F.E.A.R- PC- $9

This game… this game… may be old but DANGER, is it scary. Let me also state that PC is the master race right here.  Great controls, great audio, THIS game made me want to go back to PC gaming right here. This game is also available on older console models.

Honorable Mentions:

Martha is Dead- PS5- $22.

You can find this game still for sale on Limited Run’s website.  A great tale that takes you through war, tragedy, and mental health.

Little Hope- PS4- $13

I did not place this one on the list since I already had a Dark Anthology game on it.  This game was amazing with the storytelling and the characters you play as.  Great scares that almost feel like playing Silent Hill at times.

Those are all the games I have for this year’s horror games.  As our collection of played games grows in the future, I hope to bring a more diverse game list next year.  If you are interested in any Asian horror game titles, please check out Playasia for an affordable list of games that you can pick up through them.
